Breast Cancer Awareness evening at Marbella High Care

October was Breast Cancer Awareness month and to highlight this Marbella High Care held a cocktail party and presentation evening in their tranquil hospital grounds.
During the evening guests were given a number of short presentations from members of the MHC team. Dra’s Escobar and Ramos spoke about the importance of early detection of breast lumps and the correct way to self examine. Whilst resident dietitian, Nicola Drabble, explained the importance of correct diet in reducing the risk of cancer. The evening was a great success and it’s good to see companies doing their part to raise awareness of these important issues. The main message was that breast cancer is a curable disease that, if caught early, can be treated successfully. The importance of self examination cannot be overstated, while maintaining a healthy BMI and diet are valuable tools in the prevention of breast cancer.

Drop a dress size in a week!

I spoke to a friend of mine today who's currently working on the launch of a new weight loss camp near Marbella in January 2009. Karl Wall is one of the head trainers for The Camp, a 'Drop a Dress Size' womens weight loss retreat based in Scotland. He is working with The Camp to run similar retreats on the Costa del Sol. The weeks will be run by a team of health professionals, including personal trainers, a nutritionist and their own chef. The format is that of a 'boot camp', with the focus being on high tempo activities throughout the day. The camps have proved very popular in Scotland, with virtually a 100% success rate in relation to guests dropping at least a dress size. There are a number of health retreats in the Marbella area, yet there is currently nothing quite like this.
